The world is changing rapidly. Every day there seems to be a new product or app released that helps us live more efficiently.

These new efficiency-focused advancements have now made their way into our homes. And I’m welcoming them with open arms. The less time I spend on meaningless time-consuming activities, the better my life will be.

Here are 4 gift ideas that will help you stay up with the latest technology trends and make your home more efficient (and fun).

What is it?  An LED lightbulb that changes color and plays music.  Mind. Blown.

Why I love it!  Combines two necessary devices in one, reduces clutter on the counter and gives me something to show off to my friends when they come over (CHECK THIS OUT)! The sound quality isn’t half bad either.

Nest Learning Thermostat

What is it?  This thermostat learns your preferred temperature and programs itself in about a week. It turns itself down when no one is home and can be easily adjusted through your smart phone.

Why we love it!  Nicole and I were always messing with the temperature in our house. Now that we have our Nest, we haven’t touched it in months. We knew a computer could do a better job than we could! Also, with its energy-saving features, Nest will pay for itself in two years.  #Winning!

Amazon Echo (Alexa)

What is it?  A hands-free home assistant that plays music, answers questions and even orders you a pizza.

Why we love it!  Every morning, I wake up and ask Alexa what my schedule is for the day. My daughter loves to ask Alexa to play her favorite Disney song on Spotify. My 4-year old even learns new dinosaur jokes! This tech-gadget is now a staple for our home.

Ring Video Doorbell

What is it?  A wi-fi enabled doorbell that allows you to see, hear and speak to your guest from your smartphone, tablet or computer.

Why I want it!  I order a lot of packages online so this would be an easy way to see if they’ve arrived at the house when I’m traveling or at work. The infrared night vision would allow me to keep an eye on my house too. And when I am home, I wouldn’t even need to get up to answer the door! Talk about efficiency!

Google Chromecast

What is it?  A device that allows you to easily stream your favorite shows on your phone or tablet on your TV.

Why we love it!  If you have kids, you know how much they love YouTube. This is a great way for them to stream their favorite shows on the TV. Also, this little device gives you the opportunity to not stare at your little phone while watching your favorite Netflix series. Just cast it up on the TV and save your neck from unnecessary pain!

  1. I am definitely intrigued by the Nest Thermostat. I have a friend that picked up one a couple of years ago and he loved it. I have a smart thermostat already but the allure of Nest interface is definitely intriguing.

Thanks for sharing the latest tech!!!

  2. Check out the echobee3 smart thermostat.

It has sensors that you put in each room so that it knows where you are in the house and adjusts the temp to where you are currently located.

  3. I ordered the Amazon Echo. Pretty cool gadget. If you’re looking for something to boss around and play your music, this one’s the answer!
